Introduction
This is a design of a modern magazine showcasing South Asian food. The magazine spread is about the “History and Origin of South Asian Spices”. The fonts chose for this project were “Couture Bold” for the cover, headlines and sub-headlines. “Cocogoose Thin” for the article titles in the cover. “Helvetica Neue” for body copy and “Helvetica Light” for the name of the authors in the spread.I chose Helvetica for legibility and readability since the body copy needs to be easy to read. The softwares Illustrator and InDesign were used for the design and Photoshop was used for the mockups.
Magazine on Print - 8.5 x 11in
The print magazine is in two columns in this design. The images were chosen carefully to create a modern and colourful appearance for the magazine since South Asian food is rich in flavour and come in a variety of colours. The negative space in the cover creates a clean aesthetic for the magazine. The amount of paragraphs were kept to a minimum to fit the modern appearance of the magazine.
iPad - 2048 x 2732 px
The iPad version is extremely similar to the print magazine. The images were slightly rearranged and the page numbers are only shown on the right side of the page in this version.
Mobile Scroll -1170 x 2532 px
The mobile version is a continuous scroll. The design is mostly the same as the previous versions with the only differences being the placing and sizes of the images.
